He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles Oakes and Corine McGarvey Oakes; his former wife Marguerite M. Trasatti; his wife Marguerite "Peg" Oakes of Pittsfield; his daughters, Deborah A. Oakes-Abate (Anthony Abate) of Cromwell, CT, Pamela M. Selle of Sumter, SC and Brenda J. Ring (Dennis) of Mashpee, MA.; his grandchildren, Nicholas Abate (Britttany), Patrick Abate, Jennifer Glahn (Jimmy), Christopher Selle (Lucy), Bryan Ring and Kevin Ring (Teresa DiTommaso); his great grandchildren, McKenna, Ryleigh Glahn, Charlie and Cole Abate; and his siblings, Joanne M. Poirier and Michael J. Oakes.
