He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Janet "Jan" Esancy (Gettemy) of Pembroke; his children, Deana M. Ward (Derek), Lynn E. Ahola (Kevin) of Winchendon, Richard W. Esancy, Jr. and Andrea Quinn of Rockland; his siblings, Karen Esancy, Carol Sloan Perry and David Esancy; his grandchildren, Jillian of Ryan, Richard III, Ricky, Anthony and Jake; his child Rocky Point Drive of Tampa, FL; and also Arlene Esancy (Wigley). He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In loving memory of Dick, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
