Charles Monahan Obituary
Charles O. Monahan, of Pembroke, passed away on March 30, 2024 at the age of 84. He was the son of the late Alice (Daniels) and Charles Monahan.
Charlie was born on January 6, 1940 and raised in Norwell. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he played football and later went on to graduate from Suffolk Law School. Charlie coached Pop Warner in Charlestown for many years. He was an avid runner and ran marathons on all 7 continents. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was awarded a Purple Heart for his courageous service in the Vietnam War but he humbly declined it as he felt it was unfair to his fallen brothers.
Charlie was the loving father of Cein Monahan of Pembroke, Meaghan Monahan, and the late Cailin Monahan. Grandfather of Mary Monahan. Brother of the late Marie Tedeschi and her husband Nick. Uncle of Peter Tedeschi and his wife Kathy and Kara Schoenberger. Nephew of the late Sister Marie "Auntie Sister". He is also survived by his loving companion Kathy Walsh and good friends Sharon & Bill Kennedy.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 11th from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Sullivan Funeral Homes in Hanover - 551 Washington St., Rt. 53. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 12th at 10:00AM at St. Paul's Parish in Hingham - 147 North St. Burial will immediately follow at Winslow Cemetery in Marshfield.
