He was predeceased by: his siblings, Anna Cobb and Carmelo. He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peggy" (DiFranco); his children, Bernard Jr. of Danvers and Patricia Gilmore of Naples, Fla.; his grandchildren, A. J. Gilmore, Stacey Garofalo, Rebecca Dailey, Salvatore Accardi and Meghan Gilmore; his siblings, Anthony of Somerville, Peter of Boston and Marianne Howard of Marshfield; and also Angus. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
