He was predeceased by: his parents, Williard Farnsworth and Maude Farnsworth (Strain); and his sibling Williard Farnsworth. He is survived by: his wife Barbara (McDonagh); his children, Anne E. Richards-Farnsworth (Laurie) of Norfolk and Richard R. Farnsworth Jr. of Woonsocket, RI.; his grandchildren, Chloe, Jakob and Joshua; and his sister Joanne Farnsworth. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
