He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Denise G. Mathieu (Messier); his son Steve Mathieu (Heidi) of Sparta, TN; his grandchildren, Cody, Chelsea, Ronald Mathieu and Kristen Parker of Webster; his children, Nicholas, Emily, Isabelle and Eric Mathieu (Jennifer) of Douglas; his grandchildren, Jacob, Madison and Reece; his children, Linda Mathieu-Vera (Homer) of Northbridge, Travis, Rachel, Matthew and Kelly Mathieu (Bradley Brigham, Jr.) of Nothbridge; his sisters, Gloria Pelletier (Regent) of Grafton and Rosie Cote (Jacques) of La Tuque, Quebec; his daughter Vicky Mathieu; his brother Richard Mathieu; and his parents, Walter Mathieu and Tharsille Mathieu (Michaud). He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
