He was predeceased by: his father Neil A. Gallagher; and his nephew Scott Ruth. He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Gallagher (Gilliam); his mother Joyce Gallagher (Rhyno) of Nova Scotia; his children, Neil Gallagher Jr. (Victoria) of Uxbridge, Brenda L. Menard of Whitinsville and Sherri L. Grazulis (Patrick) of Millbury; his sisters, Darlene Renaud and Susan Amon of Nova Scotia, Canada; and his aunts, Marion and Joan. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
