He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joan Ruane (Kobbs); his children, Lindsey Ruane and Erica Ruane-Bacher (Graham); and his siblings, Kathy Kulick of Maine, Ann Marie O'Connor of Cohasset, Patti Hosker and Stephen Ruane. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
