He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lloyd and Eleanor Shafner (Wright); and his daughter Lisa A. Shafner. He is survived by: his wife Beverly A. Shafner (Root); his daughters, Aimee E. Shafner of Northborough and Patrice M. Field (Peter) of Hampstead, NH; his brothers, Richard J. Shafner of Lynnfield, Alan L. Shafner of Bartlett, NH and John L. Shafner of Florida; and his grandchildren, Kara Field, Robert Field and Peter Field.

In lieu of flowers, Bob's family requests that memorial donations be directed to the Friends of the Northborough Senior Center, 119 Bearfoot Road, Northborough, MA 01532.
