He was predeceased by: his spouse Norma J. Beaton (Lally); and his sibling Daniel Beaton. He is survived by: his children, Michael J. Beaton of North Weymouth and Karen E. Ward (Jeff) of Northern Virginia; his grandchild Elizabeth Ward of Va; and his siblings, Robert Beaton and Ruth Messenheimer.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Attn: Development, 875 N. Randolph St., Ste 225, Arlington, VA 22203.
