He is survived by: his wife Ann; his children, Michael of West Falmouth, MA, Stephanie (Eric Franz) of Norfolk, MA and Rich (Christen) of Hopkinton, NH; his brother Bob Nutter of New Jersey; and his grandchildren, Matthew Franz, Eric Franz, Nolan Franz, James Lavers and Anna Lavers. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Donations in his memory can be made to the "Richard Lavers Mathematics Award" recently created by the Fitchburg High School Class of 1974 by sending to the Alumni Association of FHS, Inc., P.O. Box 906, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
