It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sarah Ann Torchia of Newton, Massachusetts, born in Waltham, Massachusetts, who passed away on February 20, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph E. McGovern and Cora V. McGovern (Lee); her son John Torchia; and her siblings, Linda Ferguson, David McGovern and Kenneth McGovern.
She is survived by: her children, Ann Marie Torchia of Newton, MA., Karen Torchia (Herbie Murphy) of Winchendon, MA., Lisa Carney (Michael) of York, ME. and Joseph L. Torchia of Newton, MA.. She is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Truly generous by nature not only with her love and time, but also through years of charitable donations to The Down Syndrome Foundation, Special Olympics of Massachusetts and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
