Alfonso L. Ferrera Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Alfonso L. Ferrera of Newton, Massachusetts, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 20, 2025 at the age of 103. He was predeceased by: his father Angelo. He is survived by: his significant other Rose Scordamaglia; his children, Gayle Hay of West Newton and Joanne Healy (Marty) of Naples, Florida; his grandchildren, Michele, Sarris, Michael, Brian, Neal, Emma, Stephen, Natalie, Martin, Adam, Alex, Craig and David; and his sisters, Jeanette Fallon of West Newton, Marie Travaly and Mildred Coleman of Missouri. He is also survived by twenty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews.

A wake will be held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Joyce Funeral Home (245 Main St, Waltham, MA 02453). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Saint Bernard's Church (1523 Washington St, West Newton, MA 02465). A burial will be held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at the Newton Cemetery (791 Walnut St, Newton Centre, MA 02459).
