He was predeceased by: his father Francis Tierney; his wife Beverly Savage; his grandson Charlie Burns; and his brothers, Frank, Joseph, Roger Bud, Steve and Gene Tierney.
He is survived by: his children, Paula A. Tierney of Boston, Thomas J. Tierney, Jr. (Susan) of Newburyport, Robert F. Tierney of Newburyport and Elizabeth M. Burns (Bryan) of Marblehead; and his grandchildren, Zach, Halle, Benjamin, Samuel and Harry. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
