Melbourne left this world on November 5, 2024 at the age of 86, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Melbourne "Mel" Babcock and Elsie Fontaine Babcock; and his siblings, Mark and Debra. He is survived by: his sister Jill Babcock Silk of Beverly, MA; his children, Katie Christie Demers (Bill Demers) of Hampstead, NH, Mark Babcock of Gloucester, MA, Keith Babcock (Tracey Marino) of Newburyport, MA and Brian Babcock (Leah Babcock) of Anchorage, AK; his grandchildren, Tyler, Jenna, Allie, Luke, Ryan, Sarah, Kate, Emily, Matthew, Bridget, Caroline, Zoe and Piper; and his great grandchildren, Wyatt and Della.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 11th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Conte Funeral Home (193 High St, Newburyport, MA 01950). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church (42 Green St, Newburyport, MA 01950).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
