Byron J. Matthews Obituary
We are sad to announce that on March 25, 2023, at the age of 94, Byron J. Matthews of Newburyport, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Matthews and Rose Matthews (Talas); and his brother Anthony J. Matthews of Newburyport. He is survived by: his brother Nicholas J. Matthews of Silver Spring, MD; his wife Helen (Halkiotis); his sons, John Matthews (Christina Welch Matthews) and Peter B. Matthews (Teri Matthews); his granddaughters, Carolyn Emerson (Daniel Emerson), Laura Matthews (Michael Manocchio), Ashley Leone (Daniel Leone) and Olivia Matthews; his great grandchildren, John Emerson and Peter Parker Emerson; and his sister-in-law Penny Halkiotis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or to Anna Jaques Hospital.
