Sulman E. Maisonave Alvarez Obituary
It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Sulman E. Maisonave Alvarez of New Bedford, Massachusetts, who passed away at the age of 79, on February 15, 2025. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Victor Maisonave and Rosario Alvarez; the father of her children Juan B. Talavera Marrero; her daughter Angel Ruiz; and her siblings, Victor Maisonave, Francisco Lopez, Vivian Lopez and Mabel Lopez.
She is survived by: her sons, Juan Luis Talavera (Janet Diaz) of Puerto Rico and Rafael D. Talavera of New Bedford; her sister Lillian Lopez of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Luis, Jr., Eric, Cassandra, Selena, Esmerelda, Joel, Vivian and Danyel; her great grandchildren, Gissele, Deborah, Lazarus, Aviana, Axiel, Javian, Yezliani and Zariya; her godchild Shawnai Matos; and her niece Xiomara Velez. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many other extended family members who were like siblings.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Aubertine-Lopes Funeral Home & Cremation (129 Allen St, New Bedford, MA 02740). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Prior to becoming a foster parent, Sulman was employed as a parent aide with the Center for Health & Human Services, now known as the Seven Hills Foundation.
