In loving memory of Joseph F. Martin of New Bedford, Massachusetts, who departed this world on November 2, 2024 at the age of 101. Joseph leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Martin and Eugenia Martin (Alves). He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Martin (Costa); his daughters, Melany M. Hansen (Jeffrey R. Hansen) of Wilmington, NC and Bethany M. Mello (Curtis J. Mello) of Dartmouth; his grandchildren, Leah Mello, Reid Mello, Erika Hansen, Christian Hansen, Isabel Neder and Alexander Hansen; and his great grandchildren, Raine Mello and India Mello.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Aubertine-Lopes Funeral Home & Cremation (129 Allen St, New Bedford, MA 02740). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Church (783 Dartmouth St, South Dartmouth, MA 02748). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.

“I regret that I will be unable to attend "Joe's" service. Memories abound... Joe and the National Guard Rifle and Pistol team with Freddy Carvalho, John Viera, myself . With Joe leading the team we were unbeatable.... As the 212th Artillery Battalion Executive Officer ....As a field artillery coordinator in WW11.....in summary he was a soldier's soldier.....
