He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Mello and Mary Mello; and his siblings, Manuel Mello of Dover and New Bedford of City's South End. He is survived by: his children, Neil Mello (Colleen Kennedy-Mello) of New Bedford, Brenda Cabral (Joseph Cabral) of Acushnet and Laurie Botelho (Michael Botelho) of Fairhaven. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
