He was predeceased by: his parents, Lourenço Castelo and Albertina Madureira Castelo; and his sister Piedade Cunha. He is survived by: his children, José M. Castelo, Jr. of New Bedford and Kristy M. Castelo of New Bedford; his siblings, Manuel Castelo of New Bedford, Antonio Castelo (Goretti) of Jacksonville, Florida, Joaquim Castelo (Terry) of Jacksonville, Florida, Rosa Simões of Virginia Beach, Alda Morais (Jorge) of Jacksonville, Maria Pereira (Manuel) of Acushnet, Hipolita "Paula" Cabeleira (Casmiro) of Dartmouth and Idalina Oliveira of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Jacob Castelo, Alexander Kingman, Jocelyn Kingman, Jonah Castelo, Joseph Castelo, Juliah Castelo and Jack Castelo; and also Eduardo Cunha of Fairhaven. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
