It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jose A. Barbosa of New Bedford, Massachusetts, who passed away on September 8, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Lazaro and Maria Lazaro (Barbosa); and his siblings, Domiciano Carreiro (Rocky), Marcelino Barbosa, Aldina Duarte, Evangelina Teixeira and Evelina Lazaro.
He is survived by: his wife Esperance; his son Lionel Barbosa; his caregiver Diane Barbosa Tavares; his grandchildren, Neil Tavares, Victor Barbosa and Tanya Barbosa Salgado; and his siblings, Diogenes Lazaro, Augusto Lazaro (Gus), Ildberto Lazaro (Gilly), Rosa Brandao and Evelina Brandao. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
