He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Fernandes and Laura Fernandes (Pereira); and his siblings, Laura Gualdinho, Manuel, Silverio, Joaquim and Victor Fernandes.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Ermelinda; his sons, Joseph M. Fernandes (Irene) of Dartmouth, MA and John P. Fernandes (Elizabeth Cormier) of Needham, MA; his grandson Gabriel; and his sister Cidália Botelho (Laureano) of Fall River, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
