As Genoveva departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Genoveva may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Genoveva leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leocadio Sosa Fontan and Francisca De Sosa (Gerena); her son Ernesto Acevedo; and her siblings, Jose Gonzalez and Juanita Jorge.
She is survived by: her children, Edwin Acevedo (Denise) of New Bedford, Myrna Lopez of New Bedford, Maria Penafiel of Florida, Carlos Acevedo, Gilbert Salas, Nelson Salas and Ana Lopez. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoureux Funeral Home (512 N Front St, New Bedford, MA 02746).
