He was predeceased by: his spouse Aldina; and his parents, Jose Lopes and Ana. He is survived by: his children, Jose M. Lopes (Paula) of New Bedford and Susan Lopes of New Bedford; his siblings, Jose Lopes, Fernando Lopes, Ana Martins, Adelina Lopes and Leonora Bulkley; and his grandchildren, Briana Lopes, Aiden Lopes and Nathan Curvelo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
