With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Karen R. Oil of Needham, Massachusetts, born in Brooklyn, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 19, 2024. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her friend Judaism; her spouse Janet Smeltz; her daughter Olive; her brothers, Howard and Michael; and also, Isabelle and Cassie.
She began writing during the pandemic and published her first essay in 2022.
