She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Leonard Howard and Eleanor Roberts Howard; her husband John Benedict; her son John Benedict Jr.; and her son-in-law Mark Russell.

She is survived by: her daughters, Cheryl Russell of Gaithersburg and Allison Mankivsky (William) of Westwood, MA.; and her grandchildren, Stephanie Russell, Michael Russell (Kathryn), Sarah Mankivsky and Alex Mankivsky. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
