He was predeceased by: his wife Brenda M. Whelan (Owens); his brother Martin J. Whelan III (Kathie); his sister-in-law Joanne Whelan; and his friends, Rodney Frazer and Walter Horning.
He is survived by: his daughters, Michelle Wills (Christopher) of Douglas and Paula Chesley (David); his grandchildren, Tyler, Samantha, Erik, Meghan, Caitlyn, Mikayla and Hudson; his siblings, William Whelan, Grace Doran (Michael) and Mary-Ellen Thibodeau (Brian); and his friend Ronald Richardson (Natick Police Dept). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
