He was predeceased by: his parent Alfred V. Branagan; his siblings, Francis, Robert and Mary McElroy; and his sisters-in-law, May Branagan and Sally O'Brien.

He is survived by: his wife Rita Helen Branagan (O'Brien); his parent Christine M. Fitzsimmons Branagan; his grandchildren, Jesse, Judah, Elisha, Levi, Ajia Branagan, Jillian Branagan, Christopher McDermott, Matthew McDermott and Sean Branagan; his great grandchildren, Roman, Dylan, Jacob and Aidan; his siblings-in-law, John O'Brien of Danvers and Margaret Branagan; and also, Paul Branagan (Cathy) of Plantsville, CT, Donald Branagan (Karen Blatt Branagan) of Newton, James Branagan (Dina) of Bourne and Dianne McDermott (John) of Natick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
