He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Mitchell and Mary Mitchell (Gilligan) of County Galway; and his siblings, John and Josephine McGuinness. He is survived by: his wife Rita Mitchell (Panczyk); his children, T. J. Mitchell (Judy Melinek) of San Francisco, Mary Jo Mitchell Angersbach (Paul Angersbach) of Nahant, Kristen Mitchell LaPlante (John LaPlante) of Swampscott and Michael Mitchell (Karen) of Scotch Plains, NJ.; his grandchildren, Daniel, Leah, Dina, Ethan, Cameron, Rita, Nora, Eve, Owen, Patrick, Brian and Kevin; and his brother Charlie.
