Collins IV of Brentwood, NH, Kerry Alice Collins of Eliot, ME and Heather Goodwin of Nahant; his sister Adele Gault of Marblehead; his former wife Eleanor "Mickie" Collins of Nahant; and his grandchildren, Michiko Collins of Danville, NH, Quentin Collins of Worcester, Trevor Collins of Haverhill, Jessie Goodwin of Nahant and Max Goodwin of Nahant.

“When I moved to Nahant in 1973, the Collins family lived next door. As the father of daughters, I particularly loved having two little girls around. John was a teacher, upbeat and friendly. Mickie was a serious mother with a disarming smile. John also tended bar at the Porthole. I think he enjoyed helping others enjoy life and, twelve years later, just around the corner, when Judy and I were married, he helped our guests enjoy the wedding. John Collins was a neighbor with a smile...always.”
