He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leonard Mertens and Gertrude Mertens (Schmidt); his wife Christine Mertens (Golas); his sons, Michael Mertens (Jacqueline) of Farmington, NY and Timothy Mertens (Kristine) of Peace Dale, RI; his grandchildren, Ashley, Benjamin, Melanie, George and Katie; and his siblings, Gloria Treptow of Green Bay, WI, Susan Timm (Mark) of Green Bay, WI, Wayne Mertens (Mary) of Madison, WI and Timothy Mertens (Sandra) of Green Bay, WI. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
