He was predeceased by: his father William J. Coover, Sr.. He is survived by: his mother Joyce R. Sammel (Rabenold); his wife Lisa K. Yane; his children, Elizabeth "Biz" B. Coover of West Roxbury, Emma J. Coover of Acton and Samuel W. Coover of Medway; his half-brother Paul D. Coover; his stepsiblings, John F. "Fred" Sammel, Jr., Jane Sammel Misch, Mary Belle Sammel Bulwinkle, Ann Sammel Bates and H. Christine Sammel; and his former wife Elizabeth "Lisa" Ramsay of Cape Cod.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 6th 2024 at 5:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Milton (495 Canton Ave, Milton, MA 02186).
