He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph McCarthy Sr. and Jane McCarthy (Toomey); and his sisters, Patricia Downey and Mary Jane Smith. He is survived by: his wife Nancy McCarthy (McAlpin); his son Brian Etro (Sarah) of Middleborough; his grandchildren, Mia Etro, Bryce and Brady Brackett of Middleborough; his siblings, Barbara Baker (Richard) of Plymouth and Mike McCarthy (Barbara) of North Weymouth; his siblings-in-law, Jim Downey of North Quincy, Jean, Jim Carroll of Hanover, Richard, Maria McAlpin of Rockland, Diane McAlpin and John Connolly of Abington; and his friend Don Tasselari. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
