He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Cotter and Ann Cotter (Winters); and his siblings, Paul Cotter, Helen Runcie, Gerard Cotter, Joseph Cotter Jr., Ruth Cotter and Robert Cotter.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia A. "Patty" Cotter (Dangelo); his daughters, Diane Hastings (Bill) of North Andover and Doreen Chennar (Alfred) of Canton; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Cameron Hastings and Jasmine Chennar. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
