He was predeceased by: his father Richard Frates; and his brother Scott Frates. He is survived by: his mother Madeline Frates (Arruda) of Taunton; his daughters, Crystal Frates of Taunton and Shelby Frates of Taunton; and his brothers, Gordon Frates and Tony Frates. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
