He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond W. Downing and Elizabeth I. Downing (Truitt); his grandchild Elyse Welch; and his sister-in-law Carol Berman (Don) of Wilton, CT.. He is survived by: his wife Ann E. Haddock (Haddock); his children, Matthew Downing of Newton and Sarah Welch (Neil) of Melrose; his grandchildren, Essie and Connor; and his siblings-in-law, Barbara Berkowitz (Bernie), Donna Haddock-Hashtani (Wayne), Elaine Malanga (Sal), George Haddock (Kathy) and Maryjude Haddock-Weiler (Bill). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
