He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank J. and Madeline Vitale (Riley). He is survived by: his wife Kathleen E. Vitale (Sweeney); his sons, Michael Vitale (Lisa O'Connor) of Billerica and Robert Vitale Jr. of Tampa, FL; and his siblings, Frank Vitale Jr., Barbara Wedge (John) of Dracut, Theresa Gallant (Jim) of Dracut and Linda Vitale of Rochester, NH..
