He was predeceased by: his parents, Vito Abate and Francesca Abate (Riservato); and his siblings, Sebastian Abate, Sebastianna Cozell, Felipa Abate and Mary D'Angelo.
He is survived by: his wife Myra L. Abate (Kaplan); his children, Stephen S. Abate (Debra) of Uxbridge, Victor A. Abate of Westport, Erica Abate Recht (Marc) of Wellesley and Philip S. Abate (Larissa) of New York City; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Congo, Anthony Abate, Lily Recht, Spencer Abate, Alexander Recht and Jacob Recht; and his great grandchild Owen Congo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Stephen took satisfaction in his work as an insurance underwriter for several insurance companies and had continued working until the age of 90, only retiring due to the pandemic.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Tufts Medical Center or the charity of your choice.
