He was predeceased by: his former wife Theresa Doherty (Boisvert); his parents, Patrick and Madge Doherty (McLaughlin); his son John P. Doherty; and his siblings, Hugh Doherty, Rita McLaughlin, Helen Dinsmore and Marge Keenan.
He is survived by: his wife Ann M. Doherty (Dellorfano); his children, Thomas Costello (Chelmsford), Kevin Costello (Colleen) of Plymouth, Nancy Doherty of Canton, Elise Green (Michael Watkins), Billerica and Joshlyn Costello; his sisters, Patsy Russell, Joan Mansfield, Janet McGonagle and Veronica Cooney; his grandchildren, Justin, Alyssa, Sophia, Hudson, Mason, Grace and Hanna; and his pet Jackson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
