He was predeceased by: his wife Caroline J. (Isaacs); his parents, Lloyd Howard and Henrietta Merriman (Clayton); and his brother William Merriman. He is survived by: his sons, Steven E. (Roberta Clayton), David A. (Justina M. Clayton) and Peter E. (Stacie J. Clayton); his grandchildren, David Jr., Justin, Steven Jr., Christopher, Nicholas, Robert, Jayson, Jordan and Julia; his great grandchild Faith (Jo Ann Tyler); and his sister Janice Dost.
