He is survived by: his children, Michelle Mannke, Daniel "Dapper" Bates, Michael Bates and Shawn Bates; his grandchildren, Amanda and Robbie Mannke; his great grandchildren, Devin, Maya Krasco and Charli Presterone; his siblings, William H. Bates (late Phyllis), Robert K. Bates (Sandra), Maureen Howe (Robert), Mark Bates (Kathy), Brian P. Bates (Joan), Denise Guarino (Gerald), Andrea McGrath (Kevin), Pamela Hale (Jeffrey) and Kim Pease (Robert); and his siblings-in-law, William Riley (Rosselle), Steven Riley (Barbara), Ricky Riley and Rhonda.
