He was predeceased by: his parents, Sgt. Francis P. Doherty and Evelyn T. Doherty (MacLean); his sibling Thomas K Doherty; and his brother-in-law William F. Ward. He is survived by: his wife Jane M. Doherty (Ward); his son David Doherty (Stephanie) of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Madalyn Anne and Brian Robert Doherty; his siblings, Alan Doherty (Jane), Maureen Fowler (late Daniel C.) and Patricia Cashman (Steve); and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Natale (Ed) and Cathleen R. Ward. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
