She was predeceased by: her parents, John Brown and Rosa Brown; her husband Monroe James; and her sons, Alvin and Carleton James.
She is survived by: her children, Mark Muhammad, Janet Campbell, Gloria Ampey and Michael James. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, family members and friends.
