He was predeceased by: his wife Ethel Kates (Goldman); his siblings, Esther, Max, Alfred, Charlie and Rose; and his parents, Nathan and Minnie.
He is survived by: his children, Ellen Kates, Richard Kates, Leslie and Jerry Wortzman; and his grandchild Ariel Kates.
