He is survived by: his wife Marcia Hayes (Papineau); his children, Lori Hayes (Mark Chaffee) of Vermont and Joseph P. Hayes, Jr. (Andrea) of Millis; his granddaughters, Emma Chaffee, Carolyn, Elizabeth and Katie Hayes; and his siblings, Thomas Hayes, Mary Crowley and Carol Willard. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
