John P. McCullough Obituary
John McCullough, 77 of Marshfield, MA passed away on February 1 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. He is off to a far better place where he can drink good, local IPAs and can play pickleball, this time with full knowledge of the rules and scoring - which may still be optional, depending on how the current game is going.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn and daughters Kristen and Jennifer, son-in-law Ko and grandchildren Aly and Matthew. He has always been our family's anchor, our compass and our touchstone to what should actually be important. He loved our family - always his top priority, our dogs - because they love you back, unconditionally, and sports - always a fan of the home team, the underdog and a solid pickup game of hoops - because you should always be able to shoot the lights out in a basketball game unless the other team happened to be ahead, in which case it doesn't really matter who wins or loses, does it?
Generous to a fault, he would tip the bartender, waitress and likely whomever was lucky enough to be standing next to them at the time. He loved children because they related to him best, usually shared the same qualities - they wear their hearts on their sleeves, give everyone a chance and judge you on what you do, not what you've heard. Up for anything, he was often seen playing any sport with a ball or on a run because he would only drink as many beers as miles, he logged that day.
John touched so many people, in so many circles with a transparent personality that allowed his compassion to shine. He was universally loved for the good he spread and now shares with the angels by his side.
There will be a private celebration of life later on this summer. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send a donation in John's memory to the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield, by mail to 37 Proprietor's Drive, Marshfield MA 02050 or online at https://www.bgcmarshfield.org.
