“Ken was a longtime coach for Marblehead High School's teams that competed in the annual Blue Lobster Bowl regional competitions of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. In ~2015, Ken switched over to officiating for matches for the Blue Lobster Bowl, as both a moderator and a science judge, through which he shared his considerable knowledge and expertise with the next generation of ocean sciences advocates for seven years. Ken's absence will be palpable at the 3/1/2025 Blue Lobster Bowl at MIT.”

Mathew Dorsey wrote a sympathy message

“I spent a lot time with Ken before he retired and enjoyed talking to him and learning from him. I greatly appreciate the work he did with me and the passion he had for NRDA and how much he loved what he did. I have 2 young boys and Ken would give me snippets of advice on life and parenting and as we would talk I could tell how much he loved his family. He was great to work with, his life was impactful and I will miss him very much.”
