He was predeceased by: his wife Marie "Cookie" McCarthy; his children, Marie Estabrook (Todd) of Upton, Karen Roberts (George) of Medway, Gerald McCarthy (Debbie) of Chelmsford and Donna Maher (Tom) of Amesbury; and his grandchildren, Todd Alan, Katie, Scott, Ashley, Brooke, Kevin, Kyle, Michael, Christopher, Matthew, Tommy, Sarah and Jon.

He is survived by: his close friend John Bulman.
