Dorothy M. Jones Obituary

Dorothy May Jones, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away suddenly on Friday, Sept 4th. Dorothy was born in Wakefield in 1937, the daughter of William and Lillian O'Brien. She was raised and educated in Wakefield, graduating from Wakefield High School with the Class of 1955. She went on to marry Dewey V. Jones, and the two moved to Malden to raise their family.

Although they moved to different parts of the country because of Deweys job, Malden was always their home. They spent may wonderful years together until Dewey's passing in 1987. Aside from being a housewife and mother, Dorothy also worked as a nurse, at both the Malden Visiting Nursing Association, and for Intercity Homemaker.

She truly had a life of caring for others. She is survived by her children, Kimberly Tobey of Malden and Eric V. Jones of Everett, her grandchildren Caitlyn, Cody, Aja, and Ronald, and her great-grandchildren, Jaydin and Aria, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in Califonia, Connecticut, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, North Dakota, and Florida.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Dewey Jones, her son Steven M. Jones, and her brothers, Walter O'Brien, Richard O'Brien, Frank O'Brien, and William O'Brien. Due to the current Covid Pandemic, funeral services will be private.

“Bert and I send our sympathy during this time. Loosing a loved one is never easy, but especially difficult during this time of separation. Aunt Dottie was truly a fun person to be around. I always remember the excitement Mama, Grandma and Brenda would have in telling of their adventures after visiting. Dottie was more the sister than the sister-in-law to Mama and Brenda. Bert and I also have fond memories of our visits. Ps 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”
