Arthur E. Grenier Jr. Obituary
Arthur E. Grenier Jr., a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Saturday, February 29th, in his home with his loving family by his side. Arthur was born in Cambridge in 1938, the son of Arthur and Alice Grenier. At an early age, the family moved to Malden where he was raised and educated, graduating from Malden High School with the Class of 1956. After high school, Arthur served as a Lance Corporal reservist in the US Marine Corps for 9 years. He also began his career at Raytheon Co. as a Designer Draftsman. During his 38 years with the company, he assisted on the designs of many projects including the Hawk and Sparrow missile systems.
In 1959, Arthur married his sweetheart, Emma Demling, and then settled down in Malden to raise their family together. They shared over 60 years of marriage together. Arthur was a past member of the Malden Elks and the Irish American in Malden. He was also a lifetime member of the Woburn Sportsman Association. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and had an interesting hobby of tracking the MA lottery numbers. He also enjoyed listening to Irish music. He treasured spending time with his family, vacationing on Sebago Lake, Maine and also in New Hampshire, spending time the kids, grandchildren and of course the grand-dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Emma (Demling) Grenier, his children, Robert A. Grenier and wife Linda of Malden, Carol Anne O’Leary and husband John of Rowley, Suzanne M. Dailey and husband Christopher of Ashburne, VA, and Thomas M. Grenier of Salem, NH, his sisters, Corinne Cardarelli (and John) of Malden and Marjorie Keohane of Melrose, his brother William (and Phyllis) Grenier of Malden, and his grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Nicholas, Danielle, Samuel, Justin, Joseph, Jacob, Emma, Mia and Caroline
Arthur was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Marie Grenier.
Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Friday, March 6th at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church,. 297 Main Street, Malden, at 10:00 AM. Committal will be private. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 6th, from 4 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program or Operation American Soldier. Both of these programs have been supported by Raytheon for many years.
